Grace Cathedral Park (Orlando 5-5-96) Tuning?

Does anyone know the tuning for the "Grace Cathedral Park (Orlando 5-5-96)" Mark done?

I found this version on the FTP.

It could be in standard with the B raised to C but I haven't actually tried strumming a guitar to it yet and I thought i'd ask here if anyone had any tabs or the chords he used in song.

Mainly looking for the tuning though.

OK I'll try to be more precise and make a proper tab in the future, but here you go :

tuning is EADGCE
with capo on 1rst fret (I think)

Intro/verse is :

<x30000> - <x30200> - <x30400>
<x79000> - <x79700>
<x80700> - <x80900> - <x80000>

Tell me what you think of this.

why capo at first ?? i was positive that it was a C at the start..

I have also been at the EADGCE conclusion...  Could be DADGCE that is a tuning i have been using recentley

well, i'm not supergood at hearing and figuring songs out. but at least it sounds like his lowest string is tuned down to c.

i usually play the song with my favorite nick drake tuning, low to high: cgcfce.
it sounds kind of right, although not perfect.

Dunno not heard that orlando concert if that is what you are refering to.  I think he uses diffrent tunings for the same songs.. if i was to guess the original tuning for the song is very near to standard tuning.  : cgcfce is a nice tuning though

yep, i'm refering to the orlando version. the chords sound more "open" than on the album...
cgcfce is nice indeed! and it sounds good when you play the mid 8, or whatever you wanna call it ("but here on the ground"). maybe not right, but definitely good. smile

Re: Grace Cathedral Park (Orlando 5-5-96) Tuning?

I'll stick with my version of it. I doubt there's an open low C.

Back in the 90's Koz changed tunings in between songs a lot, but did play the songs with the same tuning than on the record (though he sometimes changed the chords voicings, or switched from strumming to picking).

He kept that until around 2000.

Now it's pretty much all DADGAD, DADGAD, DADGAD ...

I'm no good at hearing stuff like that. So, you're probably right, Pierre. But try playing the Nick Drake-way anyway. It sounds beatiful.

And even if you may be right about the tuning I still think it sounds like he's playing the lowest string, if not on the C, then at least on the E-minor and F chords. But oh well, enough said. I'm no expert. smile

<x30000> - <x30200> - <x30400>
<x79000> - <x79700>
<x80700> - <x80900> - <x80000>

I was in CGCFCE the other day because of Nick Drake... that sounded right with open chords, but I can't get all the chords for it ;P.

Anyone interested in a Nick Drake tab archive look here: http://www.algonet.se/~iguana/DRAKE/NDtabs2.html

Yes Evil is in CGCFAD and Down Through is in CGCFBbD I think, though its not what you find on www.blueguitar.info but I think the existing tab's wrong.

The Nick Drake tab archive is amazing ! Chris Healey is a master, he's the guy who inspired me to actually give tabbing a shot in the first place.

Re: Grace Cathedral Park (Orlando 5-5-96) Tuning?

These days, I play this one in CGCFGC. Partly because you can do the harmonics (middle strings, CFG, on the 7th fret), but mainly due to how beautiful the middle 8 sounds. You know:

(555000, 444000) 333000, 222000, 000200

That stuff. Haunting!
